The Lilac Carpet

Reaching the end of the wisteria worship for another spring season. Even the last stages are pretty, as petals fall into a soft mauve carpet interspersed with emerald blades of grass... A scene which just makes you think of summer warmth, sunshine and, if you're lucky, a cool breeze...

See you next year, wisteria wonderland!!

The Last Few Wisteria

The last song of the wisteria in bloom.

More Green than Lilac Now

The wisteria blossoms begin to yield to summer greens.

Shoots, Leaves

Wisteria leaves come up for sunshine.

Enchanted Wisps

Yes it has.

Been photoshopped beyond recognition, I mean.

Very pretty, but surreal. I'll compromise by describing it as "enchanted"...

Reaching Out to the Moon

So close you can just about touch it ...

A-l-m-o-s-t!!

Wisteria Whispers at Night

Interrupting their dreams of dark velvet, for just a little moment...

Wisteria Weirded

Wisterias on a clouded, rainy day.

Photoshopped into an echo of its natural state.

Shivering in the Snow

On the night of 14 October, the Blue Mountains had an unexpected snowstorm. The result was around 20cm of snow which lasted well into the day of 15 October.

The more prosaic results included: plummeting temperatures, cut-off roads, downed power lines and power cuts, and thousands of snapped branches...

This (cropped) photo of the snow comes courtesy of HD.

This year's snow effort outdid the great 2012 effort, which also happened in spring. 2013 was of course when the bushfires happened.

As if we needed more proof Australia is a land of contrasts.

Amethyst and Emerald

Glorious colours in the early morning sun, on a special spring day.

Loops and Light

The petals are suspended like beads of light in the early morning sun...

Dragon Cradles the Moon

Wisteria silhouettes at dusk, with an early rising, nearly-full moon.

Easy to transcend into the ethereal imaginings of a Dragon communing with the moon...

Is it time to wake up yet?

Wakey Wakey! The sun's been calling your name for the past few days...

It's your time to shine!!

Chandeliers of Lilac

Thousands of the chandeliers, eagerly clustered, falling into life.

Hello Sunshine

Sunshine, the light scent of wisteria, the hum of bees awake and industrious, and cascades upon cascades of glorious lilac.

In the joy of full bloom, it really feels as though the wisteria will be here forever...

See the Wisteria Bud-ding!

For an explanation of the "bud-ding" reference in the title, see my Liquid Amber post from a year ago.

The "bud-ding" phrase gets used a lot in the ReeDaBee household during spring - for obvious reasons!

Waiting for Wisteria

Waiting impatiently as the wisteria buds open imperceptibly, a tiny, tiny bit more everyday...

Signalling the end of winter and the start of spring!

October Theme: Wisteria Worship/Wonderland

A year ago, I started my blog with the theme of Spring.

At this time of the year in Australia, it's too hard not to fall under the magic spell of spring - that undefinable magic in the air, the heady scent of blossoms, brightly-coloured flowers and shades of emerald and peridot everywhere to gladden winter-weary eyes, bees waking up, birds squabbling, and a thousand and one tiny insects exploring the wonder of the world...

So this month, I'll focus on spring but with a twist - wisteria worship and wisteria wonderland.

We are fortunate enough to have a magnificent, rambling wisteria cannibalising part of the fence. And every spring, the wisteria comes out to play in full joy.

I hope you like wisterias - because we're in for 30-odd days of them!!
