Garnets and Glass

I had the good fortune to pick up this lovely gem (ha!) of a necklace at an Indian jewellery trade fair. 

I was told they were garnet stones. I imagine they still are; I've got no reason to believe otherwise. But they could just as easily be pretty pieces of diamond-shaped, crimson-coloured glass. Either way, they're pretty. 

Oh, and isn't it nice to be able to airily throw the words out there, 'Indian jewellery trade fair', as though it's something I do every other day?? 

Like rich crimson pomegrenade juice crystallised into stone.
