The Golden Honey Bear

Conceptualised and created by my very talented mother, the Golden Honey Bear is absolutely one of THE most magnificent creations I have the honour and privilege of owning.

This little Bear looks as if it has had a bath in gold dust.

The Golden Honey Bear is, in fact, covered in thousands upon thousands of golden delica beads.

A kilo of delica beads are on this Bear. (That's 2.2 pounds of beads, or 1000 grams of beads). No matter which measurement you use, the fact remains: it is a LOT of beads!

All delicately and painstakingly sewed on by hand. One by one. Into a full, luxuriously-golden, textured coat.

As you can see in the bear foot (ha! get it??!) above and the muzzle below, the detail of the beadwork extends to creating a flowing pattern.

My mother gave me the Honey Bear as a gift when I finally, finally graduated with my never-ending thesis.

Surprisingly, or not surprisingly - depending on where you stand, it took my mother a whole lot less time to finish the Honey Bear than it took me to finish my thesis!!

It really truly is beauty laid bear! (sorry, couldn't resist!!)
